Sprint 3

Following the close of the last sprint I sought to complete the UVs for the anchor I had made. A note I made to the group lead was that we need to be aware of the amount of UV sheets we are allowed. This entails us having to reorder our UV sheets to fit multiple props on one sheet and so on to fit the parameters of the assignment.

Something I always try to focus on is ensuring a prop has enough texel density depending on how close players may get. This may be a prop that justifies its own sheet but that is to be seen. With the harsh changes in direction getting UVs with minimal stretching was a bit more cumbersome than props I previously had modeled before.

My lead had asked me to model this cannon following the completion of the anchor's UVs. I went for the most direct approach in tackling this, starting with a cylinder for the barrel and cubes for the cart.

Lastly is the completed cannon. It doesn't have UVs yet but it is as complete as I can take it. It does go over our set limit of 2900 tris but I will either justify the need or request the excess from other props. The cart I had to break into two parts as best to avoid the issues I had with anchor.

The barrel has two straps we may consider cutting to reduce tri count or keep them for aesthetic. The pivot point is set so the cannon barrel can rotate freely atop the cart. As we draw near crunch time we will likely consider what is essential and what can be cut.
