Skeleton in the Scene Closet | A Basis of the Body

Over the course of a much needed break I took to blocking out a rough body shape. This skeleton was based on upon the Knightmare Frame the Vincent.

It was recommended by a colleague and instructor that I use the human body model as a base to build geometry off of. This aided me tremendously in roughing out the basic form.
What I had noticed is that the body overall will have to be far larger in order to scale to the head. The build of the body on most Knightmare Frames are larger than the head. The head serves no structural or functional purpose it is just for aesthetic purposes. The torso is a touch too long and will be shortened.
Without the body beneath the geometry it does look quite silly. It then reminded me of what mech toy kits look like prior to putting on the decorative plating. It feels like a good place to start and I can easily build off of that.
The form of the feet are close to what I would like them to be. I may consider removing aspects like the track wheels in the heels. I seek for this design to be aerial in nature, so if it ever is grounded well that will be a battle lost. I tire of designs or fan creations that jump straight for invincible technology or abilities that render any struggle moot. This will likely be far more stylized as the body is built.
The torso was a conundrum to be sure. For the cockpit and the torso are two separate pieces and that will likely be reflected in the polished build over the block out. The general idea is there. Arms that attach at rotating joints and a sort of collar that rests atop the cockpit and is the base for the head. The hips are extremely narrow and only really serve as a place for the legs to connect to much like the arms. One thing the show never accounts for is how the torso rotates upon the hips. In anime fashion the mech just rotates and bends as metal really shouldn't.
I will seek to incorporate a mechanism that depicts functional rotation. These mechs are often shown to be functional despite losing the legs. While functional it does pose the mechanical weakness that a joint like this would. Yet pauldron and plating would guard that joint.
The progress is behind what I desire it to be. Progress like this is needed and I'm happy as much progress got done as it did.
