Roughing out the Concept | Selecting Equipment

Technology of the Series

I began my time this week researching the technology equipped on various Knightmare Frames. At this time in production I want to avoid any overt focus to lore or story elements of my concept. Simply put, the Knightmare Frame will be of the highest construct likely assigned to that of a Knight of the Round.

Standard on any Knightmare Frame is the Slash Harken. This piece of equipment is for manuevering the enviornment like a grappling hook or for offensive means like disarming or disabling enemy units.

Slash Harken on Knightmares used by Knights of the Round are far more advanced. They utilize stronger propulsion, number far more than the standard two, and are far more deadly, designed to outright destroy enemy units swiftly and efficiently.

I'll save what concept I'm thinking of for this piece of equipment, but it definetly leans into what I have designed for the head thus far. I simply want to emphasize the slash aspect of the technology and abandon the utility aspect meant for manuverability. I choose violence.

The Energy Filler on the left is what powers all Knightmare Frames. It's compact and usually necessitate one Energy Filler to operate for around thirty minutes. I plan to use two energy fillers not for longer operational time but the amount of energy this unit would hypothetically use. The right features two pieces of equipment I plan to incorporate: the Float System and Hadron Cannon. The Float System allows for slow flight and the ability to remain in the air in place. It's to be secondary to the upcoming system that will be the main source of manuevring. The Hadron Cannon is simply a destructive energy beam that will be encorporated very lovingly in development.
Next is the Gefjun Net on the left which is essentially an in universe EMP that disables Knightmare Frames. This version utilizes the float system to deploy small Gefjun units to interupt enemy units. On the right is the Energy Wings. This is the most advanced means of traversal and only two Knightmares actually use the equipment. It allows for high speed travel and can blast energy at enemies.

Lastly is the Absolute Defense System on the left which is emitted from the unit at a compact point. The position and other stats of the energy shield are all calculated in real time by the user. It is inherently stronger than the Blaze Luminous, pictured on the left, but limits the mobility as most pilot attention is drawn towards calculation. The Blaze Luminous is weaker than the Absolute Defense System but allows the user to be more mobile.

As many those familiar with me may know, I adore Ultraman. I incorporated many elements into the design. The head of the unit borrows from one Knightmare Frame in particular.
The Vincent Ward model is the inspiration for the head. I took the crest and made it into the signature head crest featured in many Ultraman designs. The yellow visor is similar to the Vincent Ward's and attempts to mimic much of the silhouette. Going forward I plan to work on the torso, as figuring out an aesthetically pleasing layout for the cockpit will be far more difficult. On some units the cockpit is overbearing and way too large. So I will be careful to implement the element in a way that leads to an appealing final product. The head at present is around the way I want it to look. I may define the ridges and such more but otherwise I have all but settled on this look.
