Week Seven -- The midJOURNEY from Concept Art

This week was not nearly as productive as I had hoped. But with helpful feedback and some compelling reference art I refocused my efforts and am trekking on. I was lost with abstract art being converted to concept art that constantly changed with each viewing.

The head I have grown to dislike. Not simply from feedback but just the look of it. I am partial to the top of the head but the sides have become unappealing. So I will eventually make alterations after a base body is created.

A rough block out of the body is almost complete. I am not pleased with the shape yet, but these are two halves that I will alter more outside of the bounding box. I believe the orca is the apex predator of the ocean and a mechanized version would obviously become superior to its organic counterpart. That goes with saying that I will likely upscale it's proportions and perhaps mess with the anatomy.

The sweep tool has allowed me to get a rough tail going. I want to separate the back and front at the two points to extrude from the front so that it goes from thick to narrow as a tail fin would. I want to experiment moving towards telescoping plates that build out the tail but losing that narrowing found in an organic tail. Nonetheless, that straying from its organic counterpart may be the right move overall.
