Week Eight -- Classic Car -- Careful Planning, Slow Progress

Getting this assignment rolling boiled down to jumping in and starting the poly modeling. A large source of trouble was the angles that the sharp points come to. The area around the headlight may be flat but it does come out at a slight angle.

Trouble I am having is a slight bowing along the hood and sides of the car. I really opted to take time to mind the seams and where doors and the hood would open and close. It felt best to avoid cutting up the mesh later and plan out the separate pieces.

At present I am searching for a more detailed view of the tire. Given the references I do have, I modeled the tire to the best of my knowledge. The above is at 1 and the bottom is at 3. I may need to play around with whether or not I want the tires thinner but this felt like the appropriate width.
At first even I doubted the plausibility of getting this modeled but much like anything else its a matter of breaking down the car into manageable parts and carefully working through light cuts at the start. So its just a matter of investing loads of time into getting the mesh done. I still want to texture it well, so that means...UV'ing
