HDRI
The task for the "HDRI" assignment was simple. Utilizing multiple exposures of the same shot to ascertain the best quality of all aspects of the composition.
The overall composition was simple. I simply sought out a spot to shoot that had interesting shadows and interesting lights.
The stone structures had basic shadow and light structure that extremely benefit from the HDRI process.
The blurred foreground I see as the focal point. In my opinion this could have better had it been in focus. However it was a creative choice to blur it as it was the brightest in the entire shot regardless of meter settings.
The shot is rich in dark tones. The blurred foreground makes for an almost monumental feel. As if one is looking over a mountain.
The issue I have is that maybe I should have angled the camera up and capture more tree.
The composition could improve with the use of a tripod. That would give more mobility and control over the camera.
The overall composition could have pushed more into the darker values.
I only adjusted a few things in Light Room such as the saturation and vibrancy. I should have taken the finished HDRI and pushed some of the darker values with level and curve adjustment.
The HDRI method is intoxicating. The amount of corrections that the program can make is ridiculous. It makes for such a rich image that takes advantage of all values where they fit best.
I feel as though I accomplished the goal of the assignment and grasped the concepts of using the program and method flawlessly.
